A new Lidl for

Bromborough

PLANNING APPLICATION NOW SUBMITTED

Welcome

Lidl would like to open a new foodstore in Bromborough, on a derelict employment site located on the corner of New Chester Road and Caldbeck Road.

Lidl has submitted a planning application to Wirral Council. Lidl is committed to public consultation. Should you have any comments on the proposals, please let us know by filling in the feedback form.

This website provides details of the planning application which will be submitted to Wirral Council shortly. If you have any questions about the proposals, please email scott@royalpilgrim.com or call 0800 089 0361. To ‘Have Your Say’ on the proposals, please click here.

You may be aware that previous proposals for this development have been turned down by Wirral Council. While the proposed site is the same, these latest proposals are different.

What’s changed?

  • Lidl is proposing a new 1,256 sq m foodstore for Bromborough, 10% smaller than in previous applications. The foodstore will create up to 40 new local jobs
  • Reduced number of parking space from 127 to 120
  • Introduction of two Electric Vehicle charging points
  • An increased number of spaces for people with disabilities
  • A new left-in/left-out access and exit onto Caldbeck Road
  • Introduction of a new pedestrian and cycle route across the Lidl car park from New Chester Road
  • Enhanced and relocated pedestrian routes across the site

Two previous planning applications have been refused, but Lidl has decided to submit a third planning application for this store, which we believe addresses the previous reasons for refusal. Lidl has also submitted an appeal against the Council's most recent refusal, which will be determined by a Planning Inspector shortly.
